1:1 Classroom Support – SEMH

Zest Education is delighted to be recruiting for a 1:1 Classroom Support Assistant to work with pupils across primary school in Nuneaton. This role focuses on supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and socially.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom.
• Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
• Support pupils’ emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development.
• Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support.
• Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in pupils’ daily school life.
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience working or volunteering in a school setting is essential.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly SEMH.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with additional needs.
• A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant (or equivalent) is desirable.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
