1:1 Support Staff

Job Description

About the Role

Zest Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a supportive school as a 1:1 Support Staff member. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive in the classroom. You will work closely with a specific pupil, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs and ensuring they can access the curriculum fully.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional learning or behavioural needs
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and strategies set by the teacher or SENCO
  • Encourage and promote independence while offering guidance and reassurance
  • Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with diverse needs
  • Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team
  • Previous experience working in a care setting

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
