1:1 Teaching Assistant – KS2

Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Tamworth. This is a full-time, ongoing role supporting a pupil within Key Stage 2.

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential within a supportive primary school environment.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a KS2 pupil throughout the school day. You will work closely with the class teacher to help the child access learning, remain engaged during lessons, and develop confidence both academically and socially.

Furthermore, you will play a key role in encouraging independence, promoting positive learning behaviours, and ensuring the pupil receives the support needed to make progress across the curriculum.

The school is looking for someone who can build a strong and positive relationship with the child while providing consistent support and encouragement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil within Key Stage 2.
  • Support the child in accessing classroom activities and learning opportunities.
  • Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt activities where required.
  • Assist with academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and classroom participation.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Have experience working with primary-aged children.
  • Be patient, nurturing, and positive in their approach.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Be committed to helping children achieve their full potential.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
