1:1 Teaching Assistant – Stoke-on-Trent

Job Description

Are you a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference? Do you enjoy supporting children one-on-one and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally?

Zest Education is working closely with a warm, inclusive primary school in Stoke-on-Trent to find a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to start in September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a child who needs tailored support in a caring and well-organised school setting.

The school has a welcoming atmosphere, a strong sense of community, and a leadership team that genuinely values its staff. Pupils are well-behaved, eager to learn, and the school places a strong emphasis on wellbeing – for both students and teachers.

The Role:

In this role, you’ll be supporting a pupil on a one-to-one basis, either in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, depending on your experience and suitability. You’ll help them access learning in a way that works for them, providing both academic and emotional support. You’ll also play a key part in tracking progress, working closely with teachers, parents, and the school’s SENDCo.

Your daily duties will include:

  • Providing individualised support tailored to the pupil’s needs

  • Assisting with classroom activities and adapting materials when necessary

  • Encouraging independence and building the pupil’s confidence

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering a positive learning experience

  • Helping the child develop socially, emotionally, and academically

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about supporting children’s learning. Experience working one-on-one with pupils, especially those with additional needs, is highly desirable. However, the right attitude and a willingness to learn are just as important.

You should have:

  • Previous experience in a school or childcare setting

  • Strong communication skills and a calm, supportive manner

  • A proactive approach and ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)

Why Work with Zest Education?

Zest Education is committed to supporting you every step of the way. When you register with us, you’ll receive:

  • A personal consultant who understands your goals and the local education landscape

  • Ongoing support before, during, and after your placement

  • Access to long-term roles in fantastic local schools

  • Competitive daily pay and flexible opportunities to suit your lifestyle
