Teaching Assistant – Harborne

Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a delightful school in Harborne. This role involves providing 1-1 support to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within a school in Harborne.

Responsibilities:
– Provide 1-1 support to students with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met.
– Assist the classroom teacher in implementing specialized teaching strategies and resources.
– Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
– Adapt and modify lesson plans and materials to accommodate the individual needs of students.
– Help to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
– Collaborate with the school’s SENCO and other professionals to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs).
– Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
– Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem and confidence.
– Encourage independence and personal development in students with SEND.
– Assist with administrative tasks related to student support as needed.

Requirements:
– Relevant experience working with students with SEND, ideally within a school setting.
– A strong understanding of different SEND conditions and their associated support requirements.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
– Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
– Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
– A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
– An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
