Attendance Officer

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a highly organised and proactive Attendance Officer to join a school in Stafford. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills who is committed to improving pupil attendance and supporting the wider school community.

🧩 Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and record pupil attendance daily, ensuring accurate data entry into school systems
  • Follow up on absences with parents/carers via phone calls, emails, and letters
  • Work closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff, and external agencies to address attendance concerns
  • Prepare attendance reports and contribute to meetings regarding pupil progress
  • Support the safeguarding team by identifying patterns of absence and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Promote the importance of good attendance across the school community

👤 Ideal Candidate:

✅ Previous experience in school administration or attendance management (desirable)

📋 Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail

💬 Confident communicator with good written and verbal skills

🖥️ Proficient with IT systems (SIMS, Arbor, or similar systems an advantage)

🤝 Professional, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with families and staff

🛡️ Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality in education

🪪 Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
