Attendance Officer

A well‑established and supportive school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced, detail‑focused, and proactive Attendance Officer to join their administrative team. This is a key role within the school, requiring someone who can manage attendance processes confidently, communicate effectively with families, and support the safeguarding of pupils.

🗂️ About the Role

As the Attendance Officer, you will:

• Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school
• Complete first‑day calling, follow‑up calls, and home contact for absent pupils
• Work closely with pastoral teams, safeguarding leads, and senior staff
• Maintain accurate attendance records using MIS systems (SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom)
• Produce attendance reports, analyse data, and identify patterns or concerns
• Support meetings with parents regarding attendance issues
• Liaise with external agencies such as EWO (Education Welfare Officer)
• Ensure all attendance procedures comply with safeguarding and statutory requirements

👩‍💼 What the School Is Looking For

• Strong experience working in a school attendance role (essential)
• Excellent communication skills when speaking with parents and pupils
• Confidence using MIS systems and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
• A calm, professional, and approachable manner
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
• Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
