Caretaker

Zest Education is looking to recruit a reliable and proactive Caretaker / Handyperson to join a welcoming school in Tamworth. This is a key role in maintaining the school site, ensuring that it remains clean, safe, and secure for pupils, staff, and visitors.

 Role Responsibilities:

• Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the school site

• Carry out minor repairs, basic maintenance, and DIY tasks (e.g. painting, fixing equipment, assembling furniture)

• Open and lock up the premises daily, ensuring the site is secure

• Check heating, lighting, and alarm systems and report any issues

• Monitor contractors working on site and ensure health & safety standards are met

• Support with moving furniture, setting up rooms, and preparing areas for events

• Maintain stock of cleaning and maintenance supplies

Ideal Candidate:

✅ Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Manager, or Handyperson (preferably in a school or public building)
✅ Good general maintenance and DIY skills
✅ Reliable, practical, and able to work independently
✅ Basic understanding of health & safety and site security
✅ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
✅ Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
