Zest Education is currently recruiting for a reliable and hands-on Caretaker to join a welcoming school in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a maintenance or facilities background who enjoys practical work and taking pride in keeping a school site safe, clean, and running smoothly.
Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks around the school site
Perform health and safety checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and site security
Manage site security, including opening and locking up the school premises
Ensure grounds and buildings are clean, tidy, and safe at all times
Liaise with contractors and external maintenance providers when required
Support with set-up of school events and moving furniture or equipment
Monitor stock and order cleaning or maintenance supplies when needed
Follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures at all times
✅ Experience in a caretaking, site management, or maintenance role
✅ Practical skills in DIY, plumbing, joinery, or general repairs
✅ Strong awareness of health and safety regulations
✅ Reliable, proactive, and takes pride in maintaining a safe environment
✅ Good communication skills and a professional attitude
✅ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
✅ Flexibility with working hours (some early mornings or late finishes may be required)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
