Job Description

Zest Education are exclusively recruiting for a number of cover supervisor roles at a busy school in Walsall.  The roles will be starting as soon as possible and will continue on a flexible basis until the end of the academic year.

The role of a cover supervisor is varied and challenging, but also very rewarding and can be a great way to get find your feet in a career in teaching. Whether you are looking to do your PGCE in the future or you’re deciding on a career in education, cover supervisor work can be a great way to see whether standing in front of the class is for you.

You will need to be engaging with a broad range of students, confident in managing behaviour and be open to working within flexible roles.

Successful candidates must:

  • Be consistent in maintaining high standards
  • Demonstrate the highest regard for health and safety and safeguarding procedures
  • Be a strong team player who can work independently
  • Have good experience and be confident in managing behaviour within groups of children
  • Be an engaging and approachable individual

This is a quickly improving secondary school which works hard to maintain a supportive and inclusive ethos and aims to ensure all students are respectable and passionate individuals.

There are 3 positions available and these can either be part or full time for the right candidates.

The Role of a Cover Supervisor

A successful Cover Supervisor will be required to work in this secondary school delivering high quality pre-planned lessons to groups of 11-18 year old pupils.

Work will be pre-planned, by the classroom teacher within school, which you will be expected to deliver to students. You will also need to manage behaviour in line with the schools policy and provide feedback to the relevant senior leaders.

What qualifications do I need?

To be a successful Cover Supervisor we look for experience of 20 days or more working with children and/or young people. This role is a great stepping stone to get into a career in education/teaching. Ideally you will be qualified to a degree level, but this is not a necessity.

Pay and remuneration:

A Cover Supervisor can expect to be paid between £60 – £75 per day. Usual working hours will be between 8:30am – 3:30pm.

Zest Education are an REC audited agency and are dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent school-based experience (teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).

The role advertised is for temporary supply work.
