We are looking to recruit a cover supervisor for a full-time role in Sutton Coldfield at a popular secondary school.

The role of a Cover Supervisor is varied and challenging, but also very rewarding.

To succeed in this role, you must:

  • Be consistent in maintaining high standards
  • Demonstrate the highest regard for health and safety and safeguarding procedures
  • Be a strong team player who can also work independently
  • Be confident in managing behaviour within groups of children
  • Have an excellent understanding of the demand within schools and how they operate
  • Be consistent in working with a broad range of pupils

This is an excellent secondary school which caters for a broad range of pupils and has a long-standing reputation within the surrounding areas. The team here work hard to maintain a supportive and inclusive ethos and aim to provide all students with essential life skills.

The position will be 2 days per week (days can be flexible for the successful candidate), starting as soon as possible and will continue until the end of the academic year.

The Role of a Cover Supervisor

A successful Cover Supervisor will be required to work in this secondary school delivering high quality pre-planned lessons to groups of 11-18 year old pupils.

Work will be pre-planned, by the classroom teacher within school, which you will be expected to deliver to students. You will also need to manage behaviour in line with the schools policy and provide feedback to the relevant senior leaders.

What qualifications do I need?

To be a successful Cover Supervisor we look for experience of 20 days or more working with children and/or young people. This role is a great stepping stone to get into a career in education/teaching. Ideally you will be qualified to a degree level, but this is not a necessity.

Pay and remuneration:

A Cover Supervisor can expect to be paid between £60 – £75 per day. Usual working hours will be between 8:30am – 3:30pm.

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent school-based experience (teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
