Cover Supervisor

Job Description

Zest Education are working with secondary schools around the Digbeth area looking for cover supervisors starting immediately on a part time basis, working 2-4 days of your choice.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking to go into the teaching profession. Cover Supervisors come from a variety of backgrounds including coaches, youth worker, teaching assistants, scout or playgroup leaders.

A day-to-day as a cover supervisor will include:

  • Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Responding to any questions from pupils about processes and procedures
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures
  • Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
  • Reporting back on the behaviour of pupils during the class, using the school’s agreed referral procedures

A successful applicant will have:

  1. Very good numeracy/literacy skills
  2. Excellent communication skills with students, parents/carers, and professionals
  3. Can use ICT to support and enhance teaching and learning
  4. A passionate commitment to raising the attainment of all students
  5. A team player who can work collaboratively with others

To be considered you will have a minimum of 20 days experience working with children/young people.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
