The role will require you to be enthusiastic, reliable, and creative in what you do, while also maintaining the standards set by the school at the time and making sure the pupils are on track. All schools are different so managing the expectations of each individual one is also key to excelling in this role. Cover Supervising is a great way of being flexible around your commitments and is a really good way of gaining experience!

The Role of a Cover Supervisor

A successful Cover Supervisor will be required to work in this secondary school delivering high quality pre-planned lessons to groups of 11-18 year old pupils.

Work will be pre-planned, by the classroom teacher within school, which you will be expected to deliver to students. You will also need to manage behaviour in line with the schools policy and provide feedback to the relevant senior leaders.

Successful Cover Supervisors come from a variety of backgrounds including: There will need to be at least 20 days worth of work with the following.

  • Sports Coaches
  • Recent Graduates
  • Youth Workers
  • Camp America
  • Football Coaching
  • Dance Teacher
  • School placements
  • Voluntary work
  • Scout leader

Rate of pay varies dependant on experience.
