Job Description

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Design and Technology (D&T) Teacher to join one of our partner schools on a long-term basis. This role offers the opportunity to support students as they develop practical skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in a variety of design and technology disciplines. For the right candidate, the position has the potential to become permanent.

The Role

As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will inspire students to explore, design, and create across a range of materials and techniques. You will plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons that challenge and support learners of all abilities, ensuring strong progress across the curriculum.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality D&T lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5, depending on experience).
  • Creating a safe, stimulating, and well-organised workshop environment that encourages creativity, independence, and resilience.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Managing behaviour effectively to maintain a focused and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Ensuring safe use of tools, equipment, and machinery, following all health and safety guidelines.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to enhance student outcomes.
  • Inspiring students to enjoy and succeed in D&T, developing valuable skills for future education and careers.

About You

We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • Passionate about Design and Technology and dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential.
  • Qualified with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or ECT status.
  • Experienced in teaching D&T at secondary level (any specialism welcomed, such as Product Design, Engineering, Textiles, or Resistant Materials).
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and classroom management.
  • Skilled in engaging, motivating, and inspiring students of varying abilities.
  • A team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
