Early Years Practitioner – EYFS

Location: Perry Common, Birmingham
Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: November 2026
Setting: Mainstream Primary School

🌟 About the Role

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will support young children within a primary school setting, helping them to learn, develop and build confidence through play and engaging learning activities.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to create a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children within an Early Years / EYFS classroom.
  • Helping children engage with learning activities and structured play.
  • Supporting children’s communication, language and social development.
  • Encouraging children to develop their independence and confidence.
  • Helping to create a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment.
  • Supporting classroom routines and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Working alongside the class teacher to support children’s learning and development.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and interactions between children.
  • Supporting children’s physical, social and emotional development.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young children.
  • Observing children’s engagement and development and sharing relevant information with teaching staff.
  • Helping children develop important skills in preparation for their next stage of education.

👶 The Ideal Early Years Practitioner

The school is looking for someone who is kind, patient, enthusiastic and passionate about working with young children.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Ideally, experience working with Early Years children.
  • An understanding of children’s development and individual needs.
  • A caring and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with young children.
  • A patient and calm approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A reliable and professional attitude.

Experience within a nursery, preschool, reception class, childcare setting or primary school would be highly desirable.

Relevant qualifications such as Early Years Practitioner, Level 2/3 Childcare, CACHE, EYFS or Early Years Education would be advantageous, but relevant experience will also be considered.
