Job Description

Zest Education is supporting a well‑established 3‑form entry primary school in Sparkhill that prides itself on being inclusive, nurturing, and ambitious for every child. The school has a strong SEN provision and works closely with families and external professionals to ensure pupils with additional needs receive consistent, high‑quality support.

Role overview

The school is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to join their team from April 2026 for the rest of the academic year. The role involves leading learning for a small group of pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, ASD, and complex learning profiles. The focus is on creating a stable, structured environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and able to make meaningful progress.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons aligned with EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced disrupted education or emotional challenges.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour plans, and consistent routines.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to assessments, reviews, and multi‑agency meetings.
  • Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.

Candidate profile

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN, particularly SEMH or ASD.
  • Strong behaviour management and the ability to remain calm and consistent.
  • A reflective, resilient approach and a commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team.

What the school and Zest offer

  • A welcoming, well‑resourced environment with small class sizes.
  • A supportive leadership team with a strong focus on staff wellbeing.
  • Access to ongoing CPD and specialist SEN training.
  • A stable, long‑term role for the full academic year.
