EYFS Teaching Assistant – Full Time (Summer Term)

A welcoming and nurturing primary school in the Smethwick area is seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team for a long‑term position throughout the summer term, starting ASAP. This is a full‑time role, Monday to Friday, supporting children at a crucial stage in their early development.

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher to support children aged 3–5, helping to create a positive, stimulating, and safe environment where every child can flourish. The Early Years team is committed to giving each child the best possible start to their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging, play‑based activities aligned with the EYFS curriculum
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and welcoming classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Supervise children during learning, play, and outdoor activities
  • Assist with observations, assessments, and recording children’s progress
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times

Requirements

  • Experience working in an EYFS or early years setting
  • Good understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach
  • Commitment to supporting children’s safety and wellbeing
  • An enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
