Finance Officer

A vibrant, community‑focused school in Sparkbrook is looking for a detail‑driven, organised, and proactive Finance Officer to support the smooth running of the school’s financial operations. This role suits someone who is confident with numbers, experienced in school finance systems, and able to work accurately in a busy environment.

💼 Key Responsibilities

• Managing day‑to‑day financial administration, including invoices, purchase orders, and payments
• Processing staff expenses, petty cash, and reconciliations
• Supporting budget monitoring and producing financial reports for the School Business Manager
• Maintaining accurate financial records in line with audit and compliance requirements
• Liaising with suppliers, staff, and external agencies regarding finance queries
• Assisting with payroll information, contracts, and staffing changes (where required)
• Ensuring financial procedures follow school policies and statutory guidance
• Supporting wider administrative tasks during busy periods

👩‍💼 What the School Needs

• Experience in a school finance role or similar financial administration position
• Strong IT skills, including finance software (FMS, SIMS, Arbor, or similar)
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• Confident communication skills and a professional manner
• Understanding of financial compliance and audit processes
• Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
