Full-Time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A welcoming primary school in Rugby is looking for a full‑time Teaching Assistant to join their team Monday to Friday. This role is ideal for someone with solid classroom experience who enjoys supporting pupils across the school and can confidently help children stay engaged, focused and ready to learn. SEND experience is highly desirable, as you may be supporting pupils who require additional guidance.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support whole‑class learning, small‑group activities and occasional 1:1 support. You will help with daily routines, prepare resources and contribute to a calm, organised and inclusive classroom environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils during lessons, group tasks and independent work
  • Provide additional help to pupils who may need extra guidance, including those with SEND
  • Assist the class teacher with planning, preparation and classroom organisation
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Classroom experience in a primary school setting
  • SEND experience or confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
  • A calm, reliable and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of safeguarding and working with young children
  • Organised, professional and committed to supporting pupil progress
