Zest Education are urgently recruiting for a for a full‑time teaching assistant to start as soon as possible. This for a 1:1 SEND support role at a busy, well‑regarded primary school in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. This is ongoing teaching assistant position (minimum x6 weeks), offering stability and the opportunity to become a valued part of the wider school community.
The role involves providing 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with SEND, focusing on behaviour support, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) needs and emotional regulation. The successful teaching assistant will be resilient and proactive, able to remain consistent and positive within a busy classroom environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with the class teacher, SEND team and wider staff to ensure strategies are applied consistently. Support will take place both within the classroom and, when required, in quieter, low‑stimulus spaces to help the pupil regulate and engage successfully with learning.
The school is a large three‑form entry primary with an excellent reputation for behaviour, inclusion and pupil support. Staff work collaboratively and are well supported by leadership, creating a positive and professional working environment. The school benefits from outstanding on‑site facilities, including purpose‑built spaces that support intervention work, regulation and small‑group or 1:1 learning. As part of a wider school community, staff are encouraged to feel supported, valued and included, with a clear emphasis on teamwork and consistency. This is a rewarding but active role, well suited to someone patient, resilient and confident in supporting children with additional needs. The successful candidate must be reliable and fully available Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 3:40pm, and committed to building positive relationships that support long‑term progress.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
