We are recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive infant school in Great Barr, Birmingham.

📚 Key Responsibilities

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning in KS1 classrooms (Year 1 and Year 2)
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning activities
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
  • Support children with additional learning or emotional needs
  • Help maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Contribute to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times

👤 What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a committed and caring individual who can support children’s learning and development.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children (school, nursery, childcare, or similar setting)
  • A positive, patient, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting primary-aged children

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Childcare qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning)
  • Previous experience in a KS1 or primary school environment
  • Understanding of phonics, early literacy, or numeracy support
