KS1 Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting young learners in their educational journey? Zest Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant 1 form entry school in Telford in a Year 2 classroom. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in providing educational support and fostering a positive learning environment for Key Stage 1 students.

Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with teachers to create dynamic and engaging lessons tailored to the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
– Offer personalised support to students through small-group and one-on-one sessions, focusing on essential skills like literacy, numeracy, and phonics.
– Assist in guided reading and writing activities to enhance student comprehension and communication abilities.
– Empower students to take ownership of their learning while providing additional guidance to those requiring extra assistance.
– Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment by managing behavior and routines effectively.
– Work closely with the teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted support for students with additional learning needs.
– Supervise and ensure the well-being and safety of students during playtime, lunch breaks, and transitions.
– Cultivate a nurturing and supportive atmosphere by building strong relationships with pupils and parents, promoting a sense of community and trust.

Requirements:
– Relevant experience working with young children in an educational setting
– Knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and teaching strategies
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and colleagues
– Ability to provide individualized support to students based on their learning needs
– Understanding of behavior management techniques and maintaining a positive learning environment
– Flexibility, patience, and a passion for supporting children’s development
– A relevant qualification e.g. Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification (desirable)
