KS2 Teaching Assistant – Full Time (Summer Term)

Job Description

KS2 Teaching Assistant – Full Time (Summer Term)

A friendly and supportive primary school in the Smethwick area is seeking a committed KS2 Teaching Assistant to join their team for a long‑term position throughout the summer term, starting immediately after the Easter break. This is a full‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday role supporting pupils across Key Stage 2 in a general class‑based capacity.

If you enjoy helping children grow in confidence and achieve their best, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a vibrant school community.

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils in Years 3–6, helping to create an engaging, inclusive, and well‑organised learning environment. The role involves a mix of whole‑class support, small‑group work, and occasional one‑to‑one assistance, depending on the needs of the class.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of lessons across the KS2 curriculum
  • Work with pupils individually or in small groups to reinforce learning
  • Help maintain a positive, calm, and well‑managed classroom environment
  • Assist with preparing resources and supporting classroom activities
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote pupils’ emotional wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents
  • Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety procedures at all times

Requirements

  • Experience working with primary‑aged children, ideally within KS2
  • Good understanding of the KS2 curriculum and classroom expectations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, proactive, and supportive approach
  • Commitment to promoting children’s safety and wellbeing
  • An enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one

This is a fantastic opportunity for a KS2 Teaching Assistant who wants to contribute to a welcoming and hardworking school community during the summer term. If you are ready to support pupils’ learning and help them succeed, we would love to hear from you.
