1:1 Support Role – Year 1 (ASD & Behaviour Needs) – Harborne

Full-Time • 2-Form Entry Primary School • Start: ASAP

Are you a patient, calm and committed Learning Support Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child’s school experience? A warm and welcoming 2-form entry Primary School in Harborne is seeking a dedicated practitioner to work 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with ASD and high behaviour needs, starting ASAP.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them to feel safe, understood and able to access learning successfully.


About the Role as a Learning Support Assistant

  • 1:1 support with a Year 1 child with ASD
  • Focus on emotional regulation, positive behaviour routines and consistent structure
  • Helping the child engage with learning through personalised strategies
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support staff
  • Providing stability and a safe, predictable environment
  • Ensuring clear communication and consistent follow‑through of agreed strategies
  • Full-time role, starting ASAP and ongoing

This position requires someone with resilience, warmth and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Your consistency will be key to helping the child feel secure and ready to learn.
