Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

Begin a meaningful role as a dedicated learning support assistant supporting pupils with special educational needs in a welcoming Warwick school. From your first day, you’ll help create a calm, structured and supportive environment where learners feel understood, encouraged and ready to progress. As a result, you’ll build strong relationships and play a key role in helping pupils access learning with confidence.

Throughout each day, you’ll take an active role in supporting pupils who require additional guidance, reassurance and consistency. In addition, you’ll use tailored strategies that promote emotional regulation, communication and independence. At the same time, you’ll work closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff to ensure pupils receive the right help at the right moment. Furthermore, your ability to drive will allow you to support off‑site provisions, transport‑linked needs or multi‑site responsibilities when required. Ultimately, your full‑time presence will make a direct and meaningful impact on pupils who rely on skilled, caring adults.

Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant

  • Supporting SEND learners through 1:1 and small‑group work
  • Helping pupils stay engaged, focused and emotionally regulated
  • Assisting with classroom routines, transitions and organisation
  • Encouraging independence, resilience and positive behaviour
  • Breaking down tasks to reduce overwhelm and build confidence
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual needs
  • Creating warm, positive interactions that build trust and security
  • Supporting off‑site or transport‑related needs when required (driving essential)

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong SEND experience (essential)
  • A confident driver with access to a vehicle
  • A patient, proactive and nurturing approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with a range of needs
  • Full‑time availability, Monday–Friday
  • Readiness to start immediately as an LSA
