Key Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant

As a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Assisting the class teacher with engaging and effective learning activities.
  • Supporting pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
  • Implementing individual learning and behavior support plans.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in class activities.
  • Helping to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

Requirements for This Learning Support Assistant Position

To be considered for this Learning Support Assistant job in Walsall, you must:

  • Have previous experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Have experience providing 1:1 support to pupils.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be patient, caring and committed to supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
