Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

A welcoming and inclusive education setting in Rugby is seeking a dedicated Learner Support Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting learners with a range of needs—both academic and SEND-related—and who can help create a positive, structured and engaging learning environment.

You will work closely with teaching staff to support learners in the classroom, during small‑group sessions and through targeted interventions, helping them access learning, build confidence and make steady progress.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting learners in an educational setting
  • SEND experience is highly desirable
  • Confident supporting learners 1:1 and in small groups
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Patient, calm and proactive approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding and learner wellbeing

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for learners
  • Assisting with SEND interventions and personalised learning plans
  • Supporting behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping learners stay engaged, motivated and confident
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive and well‑organised learning environment
