Level 1 Teaching assistant

About the role

A friendly and supportive primary school in Warwick is looking for a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a part‑time basis. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about working with children, eager to learn and develop, and confident supporting pupils across the school day.

You’ll work closely with the class teacher to help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment. The school is particularly keen to find someone who is patient, proactive and able to build strong relationships with young learners.

Requirements

• Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
• SEND experience or strong SEND awareness is desirable
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow teacher direction and use initiative when needed
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Day‑to‑day duties

• Supporting teaching and learning across the classroom
• Helping pupils stay focused, motivated and engaged
• Providing basic 1:1 or small‑group support when required
• Assisting with phonics, reading and simple numeracy tasks
• Supporting behaviour using positive, consistent strategies
• Helping prepare resources and maintain an organised classroom environment
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider staff team
• Contributing to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
