Level 3 Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A welcoming mainstream school in Towcester is looking for a skilled Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This role centres on supporting pupils with complex SEND needs, ensuring they can access learning confidently and feel secure throughout the school day.

 

About the Role

You will work directly with students who require additional support due to autism, ADHD, communication differences, sensory needs or emotional regulation challenges. As you move between classroom lessons, small‑group activities and individual support sessions, you will help pupils stay engaged, manage transitions and build independence. Additionally, you will work closely with teachers and the SEND team to maintain consistent routines and contribute to personalised strategies that promote progress.

 

Key Duties of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant

  • Supporting complex SEND learners across KS3 and KS4
  • Providing structured one‑to‑one and small‑group support
  • Helping pupils regulate, settle and participate in learning
  • Adjusting tasks and explanations to suit individual needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional resilience
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff
  • Maintaining a calm, predictable and inclusive environment

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH or sensory needs
  • A steady, patient and proactive working style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Availability Monday–Friday from September
  • Interest in SEND roles in Towcester
