Nursery Assistant

About the role

A warm and nurturing nursery setting in Nuneaton is looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their team on a part‑time basis. The nursery is open to both qualified and unqualified practitioners, as long as you have UK‑based experience working with children and feel confident supporting young learners in their early development.

You’ll be working with children aged 0–5, supporting their play, learning and emotional wellbeing. The nursery is particularly keen to find someone who has experience supporting children with SEND, and who can bring patience, positivity and a caring approach to the role.

Requirements

• Qualified or unqualified applicants welcome
• Must have UK‑based experience working with children
• SEND experience or strong SEND awareness is essential
• Understanding of early years routines, play‑based learning and safeguarding
• A warm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow direction and use initiative when needed
• Commitment to promoting children’s wellbeing and development

Day‑to‑day duties

• Supporting children across the nursery with play, learning and daily routines
• Helping to create a safe, engaging and inclusive environment
• Supporting children with SEND through tailored, nurturing interactions
• Assisting with activities that promote communication, social skills and early learning
• Helping with snack times, personal care and transitions
• Working closely with the nursery team to support each child’s individual needs
• Building positive relationships with children, staff and families

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
