Part-Time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A supportive Kenilworth primary school is looking for a part‑time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This role suits someone who brings strong classroom experience, a calm approach and genuine enthusiasm for helping pupils with additional needs. Because the school needs someone who can step in quickly, classroom experience is essential and SEND knowledge is highly desirable.

You’ll help deliver targeted activities, encourage independence and create a safe, steady environment where every child feels included. Ideally, you’ll be qualified and able to drive, as this supports flexibility across the school and wider area.

Key Responsibilities of a Part-Time Teaching Assistant

  • Support SEND pupils through structured routines and targeted activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to build confidence and engagement
  • Assist with classroom learning and help maintain a calm, organised environment
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to promote consistency and wellbeing
  • Prepare resources and help keep learning spaces purposeful and tidy
  • Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and wider school teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Classroom experience (essential)
  • Ideally Level 2/3 qualified
  • Ideally able to drive
  • Strong interest in SEND support
  • Part‑time availability
  • Calm, proactive and confident working with varied needs
