Zest Education is working closely with a well-regarded primary school in Derby that is seeking a passionate and experienced Primary Teacher with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN). Starting in September 2025, this long-term opportunity is ideal for a teacher who thrives on supporting pupils with diverse learning needs within a mainstream classroom.
Deliver high-quality lessons tailored to meet the needs of pupils with a range of SEN (including autism, ADHD, speech & language, and SEMH)
Work closely with the SENCO to implement and adapt EHCP targets
Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and progress
Liaise effectively with teaching assistants, parents, and external agencies
Use a range of differentiation and behaviour management strategies
Support both individual pupils and small intervention groups across the class
✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (PGCE, SCITT, etc.)
✅ Experience teaching in EYFS, KS1 or KS2 with a focus on SEN inclusion
✅ Confident in adapting teaching for pupils with autism, ADHD, or other additional needs
✅ Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive classroom practices
✅ Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
✅ Committed to whole-child development and working as part of a collaborative team

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
