Primary Teaching Assistant

Start Date: ASAP | Duration: End of Autumn Term, with strong potential for extension

Zest Education is delighted to recruit an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant for a friendly and welcoming primary school in Stafford. This school combines a nurturing and inclusive ethos with a strong sense of community, encouraging creativity, curiosity and a love of learning. As a result, pupils are supported to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards education.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide high-quality classroom support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of engaging and interactive learning activities
  • Assisting pupils with reading, writing and numeracy development
  • Helping to maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Encouraging pupils’ social, emotional and academic progress
  • Supporting positive behaviour and promoting pupil wellbeing

The Ideal Candidate

Ideally, candidates will hold a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning and have previous experience working with children. In addition, you will possess:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, caring and positive attitude
  • Effective behaviour management skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Creativity, enthusiasm and a passion for education
  • A good understanding of safeguarding procedures and child development

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
