Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a knowledgeable, organised, and safety‑focused Science Technician to support a busy secondary school science department in Turves Green. This role suits someone who enjoys hands‑on practical work and can help create a safe, well‑resourced environment for students across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

🔬 Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical lessons and demonstrations
  • Set up and clear away experiments in line with teacher requirements
  • Maintain, clean, and safely store laboratory equipment
  • Support with stock control, ordering supplies, and managing chemical inventories
  • Follow all health & safety procedures, including COSHH and risk assessments
  • Assist teachers during practical sessions when required
  • Keep prep rooms, labs, and storage areas organised and compliant
  • Safely dispose of waste materials following school and legal guidelines

👤 Ideal Candidate

  • Experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, including COSHH regulations
  • Confident handling scientific equipment and preparing practical resources
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage workload independently
  • Good communication skills and a positive, supportive attitude
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
