SEN Teaching Assistant

Zest Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a warm and inclusive primary SEN school in Burton-on-Trent for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to start in September 2025.

About the Role:

This full-time role offers the opportunity to work closely with children who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and moderate learning difficulties. You will provide in-class support, assist with small-group interventions, and help maintain a positive, structured environment for all pupils.

This position is ideal for individuals with experience in education, care, or support work who are passionate about inclusive learning.

Responsibilities:

• Support the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management

• Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN

• Help implement personalised learning and behaviour plans

• Assist with classroom resources and sensory activities

• Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging learning atmosphere

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or non-school setting)

• A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to support

• Strong communication skills with both adults and children

• A genuine interest in working in SEN education

• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, Care Certs, Team Teach) – desirable but not essential
