Job Description

High‑Needs SEN Teaching Assistant – Level 3 Qualified
Part‑Time | Term Time Only | Northfield

Zest Education is currently recruiting a calm, patient, and caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils with high and complex needs at a welcoming school in Northfield. This role is ideal for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a positive difference to children who require additional emotional and behavioural support.

Role Details

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:25am – 11:45am
  • Contract: Part‑time, term time only
  • Location: Northfield
  • Role Type: High‑needs SEN support

The Role

You will be supporting children with high needs, working closely with teaching and SEN staff to help pupils access learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. This role requires a consistent, empathetic approach and a strong understanding of behaviour support and emotional regulation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored support to pupils with complex SEN needs
  • Supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and behavioural challenges
  • Helping pupils manage emotions, behaviour, and classroom routines
  • Implementing individual support strategies and behaviour plans
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must:

  • Hold NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or above)
  • Have experience working in a high‑needs SEN role
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and behavioural needs
  • Be calm, patient, caring, and understanding in their approach
  • Show professionalism, reliability, and excellent teamwork skills
