SEND Assistant – EYFS

Role overview

A welcoming and well‑established nursery in Coventry is looking for a passionate Early Years Level 3 Educator with strong SEND or early years support experience to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an early years environment, enjoys supporting children aged 0–5, and can confidently help deliver high‑quality learning through play, routine and structured activities. You’ll be working closely with the nursery team to support children’s development, provide tailored support to those with additional needs, and help create a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child feels safe, valued and ready to explore.

What the nursery is looking for

• Level 3 Early Years qualification (L2 considered)
• Experience working in a nursery or EYFS setting
• Confidence supporting children with SEND
• Strong understanding of early childhood development
• Warm, patient and nurturing approach
• Ability to work as part of a supportive team
• Good communication skills with staff and parents
• Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing

Key responsibilities

• Supporting children across the nursery with learning and play
• Providing targeted support for children with SEND
• Assisting with daily routines, activities and observations
• Helping children develop communication, social and early learning skills
• Creating a safe, engaging and inclusive environment
• Working closely with the nursery team and SENCo
• Building positive relationships with children and families

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
