SEND Classroom Support Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Classroom Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Coventry. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs, allowing them to thrive in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Encourage independence and confidence in learning
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure progress

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within SEND settings
  • A strong understanding of autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other learning needs
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with diverse needs
  • Ability to adapt quickly and use initiative in the classroom
