Are you currently looking for a teaching position to support students with special educational needs? Zest is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND Teacher on a long-term basis which has the potential to lead to a permanent position on behalf of a school in Southeast Leicester. The role will be starting at the end of February 2024 for the correct candidate.

The school caters for students who have been excluded, or are at risk of exclusion, from mainstream education between the ages of 11yo – 16yo. The successful SEND Teacher will have previous teaching experience with students of a similar nature and hold a QTS or QTLS.

Responsibilities of the SEND Teacher role include:

  • Following the national curriculum and provide creative lessons
  • Creating a safe classroom environment and building rapport quickly with the students
  • De-escalating situations that may arise
  • Delegating and working coherently with the teaching assistants
  • Feeding back notes to parents about student’s progress

Requirements of the SEND Teacher role include:

  • Ability to spot and adapt to each student’s individual needs
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and previous experience supporting students with learning difficulties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
