SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A welcoming SEND school in Nuneaton is seeking a part‑time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The role suits someone with strong SEND experience who can remain calm, confident and adaptable throughout the school day. Additionally, you’ll work closely with pupils who have Autism, ADHD, communication differences and behavioural needs, ensuring they feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.

The school offers a nurturing, structured environment; however, routines and activities often need adjusting to match each pupil’s presentation. As a result, you’ll provide steady 1:1 and small‑group support, helping pupils access learning through personalised tasks, sensory‑friendly approaches and consistent reassurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support SEND pupils through personalised routines and adapted learning
  • Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support to build confidence and engagement
  • Assist with classroom learning while maintaining a calm, organised environment
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to promote regulation and wellbeing
  • Prepare resources, tidy learning spaces and record daily progress
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider SEND team

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong SEND experience (essential)
  • Calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Confidence supporting pupils with varied needs
  • Part‑time availability
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
