SEND Teaching Assistant – 3 days pw

Job Description

A welcoming primary school in Warwick is looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team for three days per week. This role is ideal for someone who has strong experience supporting pupils with additional needs and is confident helping children access learning in a calm, structured environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with a range of SEND needs, including communication difficulties, learning delays, sensory needs or social and emotional challenges. You will provide 1:1 support, small‑group assistance and general classroom help to ensure pupils stay engaged, regulated and ready to learn.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND
  • Follow individual support plans and adapt activities where needed
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Help pupils access learning and participate fully in classroom routines
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to maintain consistency
  • Contribute to a calm, inclusive and well‑organised learning environment

  • Strong experience supporting children with SEND
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of safeguarding and working with vulnerable pupils
  • Ability to follow routines, take direction and work as part of a team
  • Reliable, organised and committed to supporting pupil progress

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.

The role advertised is for temporary supply work.
