Are you an experienced and caring SEND Teaching Assistant in Burntwood looking for a rewarding role supporting children with additional needs?
We’re currently recruiting for a SEND TA to work in a friendly and inclusive school supporting pupils with mild autism (ASC). This is a supply role with the potential to become a long-term or permanent position for the right candidate.
As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with children who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them to thrive both academically and socially. You’ll provide 1:1 and small group support, encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
Your day will run from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, working alongside experienced teachers and a supportive SEND team.
Support pupils with mild autism and other additional needs in lessons.
Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
Help students develop social skills, confidence, and independence.
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to support each child’s progress.
Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
We’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting children with SEND.
Essential:
Previous experience working with individuals with SEND or autism (not necessarily in a school setting – experience in care, youth work, or community roles is welcome).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
A genuine desire to make a difference in children’s lives.
Desirable:
Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
Experience working within a school or educational setting.
Competitive daily pay rates.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
