SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A supportive primary school in Coventry seeks a qualified SEND Teaching Assistant for a full‑time start in September 2026. You help pupils with additional needs access learning and feel confident in the classroom. Moreover, you create calm routines that support regulation and positive behaviour. In addition, you work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver structured tasks and clear guidance. Throughout the day, you encourage engagement, build strong relationships and promote steady progress.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide SEND classroom support for pupils with varied learning needs
  • Deliver small‑group activities that reinforce key skills
  • Use clear routines to support structure and reduce anxiety
  • Prepare adapted learning tasks for pupils needing extra help
  • Support positive behaviour approaches through calm communication
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to maintain consistent provision
  • Encourage early literacy and numeracy through guided practice

 

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified or experienced Teaching Assistant with strong SEND knowledge
  • Confidence supporting pupils with additional and complex needs
  • Clear communication and a patient, nurturing approach
  • Ability to follow structured routines and support emotional regulation
  • Full‑time availability from September 2026
  • Interest in Coventry‑based roles
