SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A supportive primary school in Allesley seeks a part‑time SEND Teaching Assistant for a September start. You work with small SEND groups and provide 1:1 support for pupils who need structured, personalised guidance. Moreover, you help children feel calm, confident and ready to learn. In addition, you follow clear plans from the class teacher and SENCO to deliver consistent support. Throughout the day, you encourage engagement, model positive behaviour and promote steady progress.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide KS2 SEND support for pupils with additional needs
  • Deliver small‑group interventions that build confidence and reinforce key skills
  • Offer 1:1 personalised support for pupils needing structured guidance
  • Use clear routines to support regulation and reduce anxiety
  • Prepare adapted learning tasks that match individual needs
  • Support positive behaviour approaches through calm communication
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to maintain consistent provision

 

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified or experienced Teaching Assistant with strong SEND experience
  • Confidence supporting pupils with additional and complex needs
  • Preferably experience in an educational SEND setting
  • Clear communication and a patient, nurturing approach
  • Ability to follow structured routines and support emotional regulation
  • Part‑time availability from September
  • Interest in Allesley‑based SEND roles

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
