SEND Teaching Assistant Lead

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting for a skilled Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant to take on a lead role in delivering sensory circuits to support pupil regulation and readiness for learning. This position is ideal for someone with strong SEND experience who understands the importance of sensory input, emotional regulation, and structured routines in helping students engage positively in the classroom. You will play a key part in creating a calm, supportive start to the school day and ensuring pupils are equipped to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily sensory circuits to support pupil regulation and focus.
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement.
  • Assist with classroom routines, preparation, and learning activities.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
  • SEND experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of sensory needs and regulation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • A patient, proactive, and supportive approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when leading sessions.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
