Zest Education is proud to be working in partnership with Derbyshire County Council to recruit a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QToD) to join a dedicated peripatetic team supporting children with hearing impairments across mainstream schools in Derbyshire.
This is a visiting teacher role, where you will work collaboratively with school staff, families, and other professionals to ensure that deaf and hearing-impaired students have access to a fully inclusive education.
Provide specialist teaching and support to pupils with hearing impairments in mainstream settings
Deliver tailored interventions and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Offer guidance and training to school staff on inclusive teaching practices
Liaise with audiologists, speech and language therapists, and families
Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
Mandatory qualification as a Teacher of the Deaf – essential
British Sign Language (BSL) Level 3 or above – essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Valid UK driving licence and access to a car for school visits

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
