Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Teaching Assistant (NVQ Level 3 or Above) – Full Time – Rednal – ASAP Start

Zest Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full‑time Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming infants school in the Rednal area. This long‑term role is available to start as soon as possible.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support experienced teaching staff in delivering engaging, interactive lessons and helping children to thrive academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted intervention sessions to support pupil progress
  • Assisting with planning, preparation, and delivery of classroom activities
  • Helping to maintain a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Working with children across a range of early years and primary age groups

A strong understanding of the primary curriculum is essential, along with the ability to build positive relationships with both pupils and colleagues.

Supporting Additional Needs

A key part of this role involves supporting children with additional learning needs, ensuring they receive tailored guidance to help them access the curriculum and build confidence. This may include:

  • One‑to‑one or small‑group support
  • Implementing personalised strategies guided by teaching staff
  • Encouraging emotional regulation, communication, and independence

Due to the young age of some pupils, you may also be required to assist with elements of personal care, including nappy changing, when necessary.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or above) in childcare. Unfortunately, applicants without this qualification cannot be considered.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about early years and primary education
  • Reliable, patient, and proactive
  • Confident supporting children with varying needs and abilities
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills

Working Hours

Monday to Friday – 8.30am to 3.45pm
