1:1 Teaching Assistant – Behavioural Support (Upper KS2)

Location: Northfield
Start date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term (potential for permanent placement)

Zest Education is recruiting for a committed and supportive 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a child in Upper Key Stage 2 at a welcoming 2‑form entry primary school in Northfield. The school is known for its inclusive ethos and dedication to supporting every pupil to reach their full potential.

About the Role

This is a full-time position working on a one‑to‑one basis with a child who requires behavioural and emotional regulation support. You will be supporting the pupil both inside and outside of the classroom, helping them to stay focused, manage their emotions, and engage positively with learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Supporting engagement, attention, and task completion
  • Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored plans
  • Creating a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Hold NVQ Level 3 (or above) in a relevant childcare or education qualification
  • Be available full time from ASAP until at least the end of the academic year
  • Be engaging, consistent, reliable, and confident in promoting positive behaviour
  • Have a patient, proactive, and supportive manner
  • Ideally have experience working with children with behavioural or SEMH needs (desirable but not essential)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
