Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Are you a dedicated and nurturing educator looking for a better work-life balance? We are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school community in South Birmingham. This is a part-time position designed for someone who thrives in a classroom environment but requires the flexibility of afternoon finishes.

You will be supporting a Key Stage 1 or 2 class, working closely with the Lead Teacher to deliver engaging lessons and provide tailored support to small groups of pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the delivery of literacy and numeracy interventions.

  • Supporting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and resource management.

  • Providing 1:1 support for students who require extra guidance.

  • Fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

  • Supervising outdoor play and promoting social development.


Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

Please Note: Due to the immediate needs of the classroom, we can only consider candidates with direct, recent experience working within a primary school setting.

  • Experience: Proven track record of supporting teaching in a UK Primary School.

  • Knowledge: A solid understanding of the Primary National Curriculum.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills.

  • DBS: An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Disposition: A patient, proactive, and “can-do” attitude.
