Year 2 Teaching Assistant (TA) – Full Time

Balsall Heath, Birmingham | September 2026 Start

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum? Do you enjoy supporting children in a classroom environment and working as part of a dedicated school team?

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Balsall Heath, Birmingham.

The Role

This is a full-time Teaching Assistant position supporting a Year 2 class, with some SEND support responsibilities. The successful candidate will predominantly work within a whole-class and group setting, helping pupils to engage with learning and achieve their full potential.

Position Details

  • Start Date: 1st September 2026
  • Duration: Until at least Christmas 2026
  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:45pm, Monday to Friday
  • Contract: Full Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within a Year 2 classroom.
  • Assist pupils with SEND as part of small groups and whole-class activities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons.
  • Encourage pupil participation, confidence and progress.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Support classroom management and behaviour expectations.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
  • A solid understanding of the Year 2 and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude and strong team-working abilities.
  • A commitment to helping children achieve their best.
