Teaching Assistant

Job Description

In our search for a highly motivated and dedicated full-time teaching assistant, we are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team at a school in Burton on Trent. As a teaching assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students in a Year 1 class

Responsibilities:
– Provide intervention support to students in small groups and one-on-one settings, focusing on phonics and literacy skills.
– Utilize your experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to cater to the unique needs of students with diverse learning requirements.
– Collaborate closely with the class teacher to assist in the planning and delivery of engaging and differentiated lessons.
– Exhibit strong behaviour management skills to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
– Support the general classroom activities, including preparing resources, organizing materials, and facilitating group work.

Requirements:
– Proven experience as a teaching assistant, preferably in a primary school setting.
– A sound understanding of phonics and the ability to deliver targeted interventions.
– Familiarity with SEND strategies and experience in supporting students with additional needs.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
– A reliable and proactive approach to work, with the ability to use own initiative.
– A commitment to promoting equal opportunities and inclusive practices within the classroom.

This is a full-time position, working five days per week, and offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the education of our young learners.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
